Fleet of oil tankers with nowhere to unload seen floating off California coast

More than two dozen oil tankers were forced to anchor after news of the plummeting demand for oil emerged. Incredible drone footage released by the US Coast Guard captures the eerie scene as 27 massive tankers floated off the coast of southern California on Thursday afternoon.

They have turned into storage tanks while neatly anchored at safe distance from each other near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

This came after refineries were forced to close down due to coronavirus lockdown measures and a reduced demand for crude products from stay-at-home residents.
