A former Scots Tory MP has posted a photo of himself meeting with former US president Donald Trump at his Florida resort. Ross Thomson, who represented Aberdeen South from 2017 to 2019, put up an image from the encounter on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday.

Thomson wrote: “Lunch with 45 #Maralago #PresidentTrump.” 'Haunted' abandoned Scottish psychiatric hospital leaves urban explorer with 'eerie feel' Trump, who is the current frontrunner for the Republican nomination in the 2024 White House race, was the 45th president.Thomson, 36, also posted photos of himself at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s golf course resort where he spends most of his time.In February 2021 a panel set up to deal with bullying and harassment at Westminster dismissed an appeal against the decision to clear Thomson of sexual misconduct allegations.Thomson was cleared by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards following claims by former Labour MP Paul Sweeney, who said the Conservative had “groped” him in a Westminster bar in October 2018.The Independent Expert Panel (IEP) considered an appeal by Sweeney against the decision. But the eight-person panel ruled there was no case to answer for Thomson. The Tory, who ran Boris Johnson’s leadership campaign in Scotland, stood down as the party’s candidate for the Aberdeen South seat in November 2019 after Sweeney went public with the accusations.Trump is facing trials in federal court and in Georgia stemming from his attempts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden.
