A group of cheeky lags climbed onto a prison roof to demand Easter eggs and caramel wafers. The foursome climbed onto the roof of Barlinnie prison, Scotland, at the weekend in protest.

They particularly wanted Tunnock's wafers during a noisy rant that went on for hours. But they gave up when temperatures plummeted and then requested a ladder so they could climb down, reports Daily Record.

The drama, which began yesterday afternoon, unfolded after the four decided to climb on top of the undercroft – a bungalow-sized building within the jail.

Sources said they stayed up for a couple of hours, then decided that despite the spring sunshine it was too cold for a long, drawn-out “rooftop siege”.
