The coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown across the UK has led to a sharp rise in employees working from home, unable to work or placed on furlough leave.

We've already covered what furlough means in a previous article, but have received several queries from readers about what they can and can’t do while on furlough leave, redundancy and pensions.

Here is the latest information on furlough from the UK Government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme guidelines. The newly created Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme offers grants from HMRC to all UK employers who need help to pay the wages of staff who would otherwise be made redundant, funding 80 per cent of their salary, up to the value of £2,500 per month.
