COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Professor G. L. Peiris called on his Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Monday (7).Dr.

Jaishankar tweeted that both ministers had productive talks and they discussed economic and investments initiatives that will strengthen Sri Lanka at this time.He noted that the talks also focused on additional steps to enhance Sri Lanka’s energy security.Further, he noted that they exchanged views on the fishermen issue and agreed that bilateral mechanisms should meet early.The Indian Foreign Minister said they recognized the importance of greater tourism for economic recovery and also noted the importance of P2P linkages through greater connectivity.Foreign Minister Peiris was joined by Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda, and senior officials of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Delhi and the Foreign Ministry.Indian Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay, and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, India accompanied the External Affairs Minister of India.

The New York Common Retirement Fund's stakes in McDonald's and PepsiCo were valued at approximately $410 million and $501 million, respectively, as of the end of 2021, according to its latest 13F filing.McDonald's has a total of 847 restaurant locations in Russia and 108 locations in Ukraine.

Drivers in Texas, for example, can expect to pay around $3.73 per gallon of regular gas, while drivers in California can expect to pay around $5.34 for each gallon of regular, the most expensive in the U.S."It’s unfortunate we’re seeing prices as high as they are because it’s really impacting a lot of families," said Aldo Vasquez with AAA Arizona.During the same time in 2021, officials with AAA say the national average price for a gallon of regular is $2.76.The highest recorded average price for a gallon of regular, according to AAA officials, was $4.114 in July 2008.According to a statement issued by AAA officials on March 7, crude prices are soaring because of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, and that is translating to higher gas prices."It’s definitely one of the stronger stressors on the global oil market at this point, and as long as this conflict continues, it’s likely we’re going to see these prices go up," said Vasquez.Despite the announcement of a coordinated release of crude oil from strategic reserves of the U.S.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has planned to deport a total of 56 Indian fishermen who were arrested and remanded for illegally entering the Sea of Sri Lanka.The 56 Indian fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy while illegally fishing in the northern seas of Sri Lanka.They were first produced to the Kytes Magistrate’s Court on the 19th of December 2021 and were ordered to be remanded.On the 25th of January 2022, these 56 Indian fishermen were produced to the Kytes Magistrate’s Court against where it was ordered for them to be handed over to the Mirihana Immigration Detention Center, to be deported.These 56 Indian fishermen were moved to the Quarantine Centre in Iyakachchi, Jaffna to undergo quarantine and upon completion of the quarantine period, they were moved back to the Jaffna Prison.As per the court order, the Indian fishermen will be handed over to the Mirihana Immigration Detention Center, to be deported, on Wednesday (9).The decision to deport the Indian fishermen comes after Indian External Affairs Minister Dr.
