The former Dancing On Ice contestant, 39, who presents the weather reports on the breakfast magazine show broke the tragic news on his Twitter page before adding that the coronavirus lockdown has left him feeling "trapped and powerless".

Taking to his Twitter page which boasts 55,400 followers, Alex initially shared a video clip thanking NHS volunteers. He later shared the heartbreaking tweet which read: "My lovely step-grandmother died on her own tonight!
