A number of homeless and addiction services have called on the next government to keep accommodation arrangements in place that began at the start of Covid-19.
Merchants Quay Ireland, Coolmine and DePaul Ireland have written a joint paper to formulate a plan for homeless and addiction services.
It is the first time the three organisations have come together to write a proposal. They are calling on the next government to prolong the use of hotels for homeless people.
Continued access to Opioid Substitute Treatment for clients is also recommended. The paper also says a structured exit plan is required for those in cocooning facilities, so they do not return to homelessness and have access to healthcare including day services.
