A granddad has paid tribute to brave NHS medics who treated him as he battled coronavirus in hospital . Panayiotis Elia, from Birmingham, kept a diary on how he fought symptoms of the deadly disease which gradually worsened over time.

He says he didn't show classic Covid-19 symptoms as initially he just had a headache, was constipated and felt lethargic and nauseous.

However, his condition rapidly worsened and, within 10 days, he was in a critical condition at Good Hope Hospital. Thankfully, the 66-year-old grandad pulled through and was able to go home to his family just over a week later, reports BirminghamLive.
