The British Healthcare Trades Association said some members are selling masks, gloves and protective kit abroad after their offers to help the NHS were ignored.
Chief executive Dr Simon Festing said: “It’s an extremely difficult time for businesses and if they can’t supply to the UK then their commercial arrangements are likely to continue.” Veenak International, a wholesaler based in Birmingham, reportedly packed more than 5million surgical masks and 1.5m respirators onto EU-registered lorries last week.
