ATLANTA - Former presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were among the political and civil rights leaders who paid tribute Thursday to the late Rep.
John Lewis at a memorial service in Atlanta.“John Lewis always looked outward, not inward. He always thought of others. He always believed in preaching the gospel, in word and in deed, insisting that hate and fear had to be answered with love and hope,” Bush said. “John Lewis believed in the Lord, he believed in humanity, and he believed in America.”Bush said he had been “privileged to see that spark up close” after working with Lewis to bring the National Museum of African American History and Culture to Washington, D.C.
