A "highly-respected and dedicated" firefighter has died after testing positive for Covid. Crew Manager Alec Elwell, 48, from Staffordshire, had been receiving hospital treatment for the virus before he died on Saturday.
His team said they were "devastated and shocked" at the sudden loss of Alec, who leaves behind a partner and his two children.
Alec, who transferred to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service from the London Fire Brigade in 2005, had most recently been based at Hanley Fire Station. What do you think of the current Covid measures?
