Hyundai Motor India Ltd – country’s second largest passenger vehicle manufacturer – on Sunday announced reopening of its Tamil Nadu-based factories from 6 May, in order to start preparations for commencing vehicle production operations in the following weeks.
This move comes close on the heels of the union government allowing gradual resumption of economic activity, by relaxing lockdown measures, in certain parts of the country identified as green and orange zones.
Car makers like Hyundai had to close their factories from 22 March, following the lockdown announced by the union and state governments to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
