Volunteers working in coronavirus support centres say “cracks in the system have been brought to light by the COVID-19 situation” and they’re finding more and more vulnerable people who need help through their work.

A number of isolated individuals who had previously slipped through gaps in the welfare system are now being helped for the first time thanks to the huge efforts of the volunteers across Trafford’s six coronavirus support hubs.

The six centres and their army of helpers, call handlers, council staff and partners have come into their own in the last few months; taking and making thousands of calls, delivering hundreds of food parcels and supporting people from all walks of life during the COVID-19 outbreak.
