Cheltenham heroine Jessica Harrington has “kicked cancer in the a**e” and now waged war on the new rules over Festival handicaps.The brilliant Irish trainer is part of the meeting's folklore having trained Sizing John to win a Gold Cup, Jezki to win a Champion Hurdle and the wonderful Moscow Flyer to triumph in two Queen Mother Champion Chases.
Harrington was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, but, having received the all-clear last year, she hopes to have dismissed the disease for good as she revealed his best chance for the 2025 showpiece.The 78-year-old said: “I am completely clear, I had another scan last week and I am absolutely perfect.
We got through it, we gave it [cancer] a kick in the a**e.” Harrington returns with hopes of adding to her nine Festival successes as she revealed Jetara will have a crack at the Mares’ Hurdle.She said: “I don’t know if Lossiemouth or Brighterdaysahead will run it, but we came to the conclusion that we might as well go for that.
The owner said I’d rather be second or third to them than go anywhere else. She seems to be in great form and has come out of that race well.
