Jesy Nelson’s decision to quit Little Mix has been hailed as a ‘revolutionary step’ to normalising mental health issues within the music industry. The 29-year-old singer released a heartfelt statement yesterday announcing that she would be leaving Little Mix, consisting of Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, after nine years.
In her lengthy message, Jesy explained how the ‘constant pressures’ of being in a girl group and the expectations that come with it are simply not worth her peace of mind.
There’s no doubt that walking away from one of the UK’s most successful girl bands was not an easy decision for Jesy but ultimately, it was the right one.
