'Kind and thoughtful' detective dies after testing positive for coronavirus

The British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed that one of its detectives has died after contracting coronavirus. Detective Constable John Coker died on Friday night after he contracted the deadly disease last month.

The 53-year-old became ill on March 22 and was later rushed to hospital when his condition did not improve. A BTP statement said: “Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, John’s health did not improve, and passed away on Friday, April 17. “My thoughts are with John’s family, for whom the last three weeks have been incredibly difficult and who will be struggling to deal with this most distressing outcome. “Local colleagues have been in constant contact with John’s wife and will pass on the heartfelt condolences of us
