Kirkcudbright vet retires after 40 years in the industry

A well-known Stewartry vet has retired after 40 years.Jimmy More left general practice at Galloway Vets in Kirkcudbright at the end of March.Jimmy, a regular contributor to the farming reviews in The Galloway News, was brought up on the family farm in Fife.

He qualified from the Dick Vet School of Edinburgh University in 1980.After two years as an assistant vet in Arbroath, Jimmy moved to Kirkcudbright to join David Jessiman for two weeks as a temporary locum but enjoyed the job so much he never left.During Jimmy’s time the practice moved from Dee Cottage in Tongland to the purpose-built premises in Gas Lane.
