Coronavirus infection rates across Greater Manchester fell by at least a quarter in every area. Over the past week the number of positive cases have continued to plummet across the region.
All boroughs except Wigan are below the national average for England. The town has Greater Manchester's highest infection rates, currently standing at 131.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Manchester still has the lowest infection rate, with 86.6 cases per 100,000 people. Across Greater Manchester 3,031 people tested positive for the virus, in the week to Saturday, April 30, 1,563 fewer cases than the previous week. That is 270 fewer than the week before, a fall of 178 percent. On Tuesday, April 26, there were 17 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals.
