One Greater Manchester borough sees coronavirus infection rate rise as remaining nine plummet

The coronavirus infection rate has gone up in one area of Greater Manchester, as the weekly rates continue to plummet across the other nine areas.

However, the infection rate across the region remains below the national average. Cases in the borough of Manchester have risen by 2 per cent, as Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.

The borough recorded a rate of 104.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending May 6. The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 68.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 91.0 cases per 100,000 population.
