Boris Johnson has told colleagues that lifting the UK's coronavirus lockdown too early could result in a deadly "second wave" of the disease, insiders claim.
The Prime Minister, who is recovering from his own bout of Covid-19 at Chequers after being released from intensive care, reportedly held a two-hour meeting on Friday via video call.
He said his "overriding concern" is avoiding a second wave of infection during talks with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, senior adviser Dominic Cummings and director of communications Lee Cain.
Johnson, 55, who is holed up with girlfriend Carrie Symonds, 32, said his priority was to help Britain recover, and return to what is being called a "new normal" after the pandemic has passed its peak.
