Barcelona star Lionel Messi ’s private jet was forced to make a mysterious emergency landing in Brussels this morning, according to reports in Belgium.
The aircraft was on route to Tenerife, Spain, before first landing in Zaventem at 9:10am for a reason that is currently unclear.
Belgian newspaper HLN claim it then took off for a second time an hour and a half later to fly back post Mons and return to Brussels Airport, before a problem with the landing gear forced it to ground its wheels at Zaventem again at 11:05am.
Brussels Airport did not want to provide information about the incident because of GDPR legislation. It is not yet known if Messi was on board the aircraft, which he bought two years ago for a reported €13m [£11m].
