FILE - Scientists with NASA’s New Horizons mission have assembled this highest-resolution color view of one of two potential cryovolcanoes spotted on the surface of Pluto by the New Horizons spacecraft in July 2015. Slushies anyone? After years of research, scientists now hypothesize that giant dome-like formations that were first photographed by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft in 2015 were recently active icy volcanoes, also known as cryovolcanoes. Scientists guessed these cryovolcanoes expelled "slushy" ice water as opposed to molten lava. These formations could indicate that the interior of the giant space rock was warmer than previously thought, according to a study published in the journal Nature Communications on March 29. Researchers believe there may be an insulating layer under Pluto’s surface, kind of like the insulation in a coffee mug that keeps the liquid hot - the same principle applies to Pluto. This built-up heat within Pluto could be how these icy volcanoes produced viscous material and spewed out icy water or slush, Kelsi Singer, senior research scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado and lead author of the study, told FOX TV Stations. This recent theory allows scientists to view Pluto as a far more reactive space body than previously believed. "This area is by far the most numerous and the largest icy volcanoes found so far in the solar system," Singer said. "Besides just being a fun fact, this means that Pluto had to have more heat in its interior than we expected.

GOLDEN, Colo - A rare sighting was up near the mountains in Colorado this weekend — hundreds upon hundreds of golden retrievers. The city of Golden hosted its annual Goldens in Golden event on Saturday, inviting golden retrievers and their human parents for a massive celebration. The annual event, which is said to celebrate "these popular pooches with lots of fun, fanfare, fluff and photo ops," took a break during the pandemic and came back in full swing this year. Event organizers told Denver’s CBS4 they estimated more than 2,000 golden retrievers attended, which may even be an unofficial record for the largest gathering. Golden is an old mining town that sits in the foothills of the Rock Mountains about 20 miles west of Denver. It houses the Colorado School of Mines, Coors Brewery and an arching ‘Welcome to Golden’ sign, which is where hundreds of pups gathered and posed Saturday for a photo. Local businesses reportedly got in on the fun, too, and offered "hot dogs" and pupcakes.

DENVER - A former Pennsylvania dentist is accused of gunning down his wife during a safari trip in Africa in order to collect $4.8 million in life insurance, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.Court documents, obtained by FOX Television Stations, showed Lawrence Rudolph, 67, is charged with foreign murder and mail fraud. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.Authorities said Lawrence currently owns Three Rivers Dental in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.A criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado revealed that Lawrence and his wife, Bianca, traveled to Zambia multiple times in 2016.
