CHESTER, Pa. - The mayor of Chester called on state leaders in Harrisburg to dip into a multi-billion dollar rainy day fund to help the decades-long financially-strapped suburb of Philadelphia. As Chester tries to navigate turbulent financial waters, Mayor Kirkland claims the state-appointed receiver keeps preventing local solutions to Chester's money woes. One of those proposed solutions involves a plan to sell Chester's water system to Aqua PA for $440M. WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Two Chester County women have been arrested for stealing $450,000 from their employer, Chester County officials said.The announcement came Wednesday from the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, saying 22-year-old West Chester resident Mikayla Zeigler and 25-year-old Danielle King, of Chadds Ford, reportedly stole $450,000 from their employer, a doctor in West Chester, between October 2020 and August 2021.In addition, the two are charged with trying to sell items, valued at over $1 million, that belonged to the doctor.Officials outlined an extensive scheme by the women, stealing from the doctor and spending that money on themselves.According to officials, King and Zeigler convinced the victim to use an electronic banking system, which allowed them access to accounts of the victim and his businesses. String of catalytic converter in thefts in Delaware County targeted specific vehicle type

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The ongoing trend of catalytic converter thefts appears to be victimizing a new type of vehicle in one Pennsylvania community, according to local police. Officers in Haverford Township say there were nearly a dozen catalytic converter thefts over the weekend, and many of them the vehicles were Volkswagens. "This is really the first big spike we’ve seen in quite some time, we’ve had a few sporadic here and there, but it’s not just us it’s regionally," Haverford Township Police Chief John Viola said.Investigators in Haverford believe the thieves are coming from outside the town.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY - Monday morning commute just got a even more difficult for some drivers in Montgomery County after Saturday's severe storms shut down part of a major highway.Route 422 near King of Prussia is closed in both directions from Pennsylvania Route 23 Valley Forge exit and PA 363 at the Audubon/ Trooper exit, PennDOT says.The highway was closed after a string of thunderstorms pummeled the Delaware Valley Saturday night, causing damage to roads and properties.Officials say a utility pole was knocked down on Route 422, leaving power lines along the highway.MORE HEADLINES:PECO crews have been ‘feverishly’ working to erect a new pole and make necessary repairs since Sunday, according to authorities.Although the hoped to have the highway open by Monday morning, officials say they now expect it to be closed beyond Monday rush hour.FOX 29's Steve Keeley was on the scene as several cars and buses were forced to turn around and find alternate routes.

Woman gets probation in charges related to Lancaster protest disorder

LANCASTER, Pa. - A woman who was among a dozen people arrested during civil disorder that followed a fatal police shooting in September 2020 has been sentenced to 18 months on probation.Kathryn Patterson, 23, was also fined and ordered to do 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty Thursday to charges related to failing to leave the area when ordered during the Lancaster demonstrations.Prosecutors and defense attorneys acknowledged that Patterson, a Franklin & Marshal College student at the time, wasn’t among those who threw rocks and frozen water bottles at police during the protest around police headquarters in September 2020, LNP reported. She told the judge in a faltering voice that "I have a heart for justice and in the last 2 1/2 years I have really tried to show that." The lithium-ion battery packs in the 42-volt Jetson Rogue self-balancing scooters/hoverboards can overheat and pose a fire hazard, according to the recall notice posted by the CPSC. In April 2022, a 10-year-old girl and her 15-year-old sister were killed in a fire that broke out in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. HYUNDAI AND KIA TO RECALL MORE THAN HALF MILLION VEHICLES OVER FIRE CONCERNAlthough the cause of the fire is still undetermined, the "Hellertown Borough Fire Marshal determined that a 42-volt Jetson Rogue was the point of origin of the fire," according to the notice. "The fire then spread from the room of origin to other portions of the house, resulting in the deaths of the two girls and smoke inhalation injuries to the girls’ parents," the recall continued. There has also been several other reported incidents where the product was burning sparking or melting.

PHILADELPHIA - Officials from Pennsylvania State Police and the Philadelphia Police Department say a missing two-month-old baby has been found safe after being reported missing. Authorities asked for the public's help searching for the missing baby and a 26-year-old suspect after they were last seen in the fashion district on Tuesday morning. According to officials, the suspect volunteered to watch the baby but then later could not be reached by the child's mother or family. Police say a witness told investigators the suspect was observed sleeping in a U-Haul in Philadelphia. Information about the missing baby was publicly released by law enforcement on Thursday afternoon. Shortly after Philadelphia Police said the child was found safe and reunited with her mother. No additional details have been made available by police.

Police say McKee was last seen heading north on 16th Street towards Lehigh Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. According to officials, the suspect borrowed her cousin's car saying she would leave a Chevrolet Malibu in exchange for it. The vehicle is a black 2003 Nissan Maxima with blacked-out tinted windows and a Dallas Cowboys sticker on the rear, and the Pennsylvania tag LZJ-0488, authorities say. The car's owner and the baby's mother looked for the Malibu in the location McKee said she would leave it but did not find it, Philadelphia Police say. According to law enforcement, a witness told authorities they saw the suspect sleeping in a U-haul truck parked on the street. Officials say McKee has not responded to calls or social media messages. The baby was last seen wearing a gray sweater with a bear on it, pink tights, a pink and white headband with a flower, and pink and white socks.
