Coronavirus: South Korea says it’s battling ‘second wave’ of pandemic
South Korea said for the first time on Monday it is in the midst of a “second wave” of novel coronavirus infections around Seoul, driven by small but persistent outbreaks stemming from a holiday in May.The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) had previously said South Korea’s first wave had never really ended. But on Monday, KCDC director Jeong Eun-kyeong said it had become clear that a holiday weekend in early May marked the beginning of a new wave of infections focused in the densely populated greater Seoul area, which had previously seen few cases.“In the metropolitan area, we believe that the first wave was from March to April as well as February to March,” Jeong said at a regular briefing.

Indian scientists find covid gene in wastewater, may help in real-time surveillance
wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) for real-time surveillance of COVID-19 in the country. The study, led by scientists in IIT-Gandhinagar, found that increased “gene copies" of the virus in Ahmedabad’s wastewater matched the incidence of the disease in the city. With this, India “Joins the ranks of a handful of countries doing WBE on COVID-19", Andrew Singer, an environmental microbiologist at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, said on Twitter. WBE is a promising approach to understand the status of disease outbreak in a certain catchment by monitoring viral load in wastewater. Recent studies had reported that the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is present in the faeces of infected individuals.

How Hotter became Britain's biggest shoemaker - and its most stylish yet comfortable designs to buy now
Britain’s largest shoe manufacturer, Hotter, was on the verge of potential collapse, my response was: “Who?”It’s not that I don’t know my way around the British high street - Aldo, Dune, Kurt Geiger and Office are all brands that have occupied some space in my shoe cupboard over the years - but Hotter seems to have escaped my attention.Perhaps it’s because its designs have traditionally been led more by comfort than aesthetics - I’ve always been a believer that a great pair of shoes should deliver on both.
