A man has been charged with fraud after allegedly taking advantage of an offer of free lodgings for NHS staff, despite not working for the NHS himself.

Ben Quince, 30, is accused of checking into the Casa hotel in Lockoford Lane, Chesterfield, on a date at the end of March. He stayed on a floor reserved solely for NHS workers for six nights, after allegedly telling hotel staff he worked in the A&E department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The hotel is currently offering complimentary lodgings for NHS workers during the coronavirus pandemic. Mr Quince, of no fixed abode, has now been charged with fraud by false representation.
