Firefighters in Greater Manchester ars set to make face masks for NHS staff. They will also transfer patients to Manchester's newly-created Nightingale Hospital in the city centre to help during the coronavirus crisis.
The move follows a news an agreement being reached between the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and fire service National Employers.
Under the latest agreement, firefighters - who are already driving ambulances in parts of the country - will now also begin transferring both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients from Nightingale hospitals.
Firefighters are already delivering food and medicines to vulnerable people and the latest agreement will also allow them to package and repackage food supplies,
