Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Matt Hancock has been embroiled in a TV row after he repeatedly attacked journalists' questioning over coronavirus. The Health Secretary slammed coverage from a range of outlets including the Mirror, BBC and ITV until he was finally confronted by Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan.

Mr Hancock was left smarting last night after being asked in a Downing Street press conference if his government had left care home residents to die - a claim he vehemently denied.

Today's Daily Mirror focused on his "unbelievable" offer to a badge for care home staff - who until a few days ago were unable to get Covid-19 tests, and say they are struggling to get protective equipment.
