Thousands of kittens were force-fed dead the cat meat at a lab in Beltsville, in the US state of Maryland, in aid of experiments studying the parasite which causes 'toxoplasmosis', a potentially fatal food-borne illness in humans.The US Dept of Agriculture research lab is no longer allowed to practice its kitten experiments after allegedly using cat meat and puppy parts from Chinese wet markets in its research between 2003 and 2015.Last year the Kitten Act 2018 was passed calling for the kittens to be adopted out and banning the experiments.Now a new Chinese Wet Markets Bill is being floated, which would ban US taxpayer money being spent at Chinese wet markets in future.
