Scientific tests are getting closer to proving coronavirus victims will become immune to catching the disease a second time.
Two tests carried out involving monkeys have discovered that the primates showed signs of immunity when exposed to COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, a second time.
The American researchers infected nine test subjects with the deadly disease and, once they had recovered, infected the same test subjects again.
The test results showed that the monkeys did not contract the disease the second time they were infected – offering hope that similar immunity could be developed in humans.
