Several Monsoon Accessorize stores are set to close in Ireland despite the company being bought out of administration in the UK by founder Peter Simon.
The UK fashion retailer fell into administration last night after the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns made the 230-shop business unviable.
Buyout vehicle Adena Brands, a company ultimately controlled by Peter Simon, said it hoped to save both the brands and up to 2,300 jobs.
But the company is due to close 35 stores despite the administration deal, resulting in the loss of 545 jobs. These include shops in Dublin, Cork and Kilkenny.
