The mum of a four-year-old who has passed away from cancer has paid tribute to her 'kind, sassy and determined' little girl.
Lyla Mae O’ Rourke was given just weeks to live after first being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia as a baby. But she fought the disease and went into remission after months of treatment, including a bone marrow transplant from her big sister Leoni, 12, before she sadly relapsed last year.
She passed away suddenly from a cardiac arrest in Royal Manchester Children's Hospital last Saturday, after developing a treatment complication called veno-occlusive disease.
