'My healthy baby died in hospital - now we're spending Christmas visiting her in the morgue'

A devastated couple have shared their harrowing story as they seek 'justice' following the death of their baby at Birmingham Women's Hospital.

Melissa Warman and Jordan Smith's daughter, Nova, who was expected to be a healthy addition to their family last month, tragically passed away, leading them to make regular visits to her in the morgue instead of welcoming her home.The Alvechurch mother recounted how she went into labour at 36 weeks and pleaded with hospital staff for an induction, but after a few days without action, baby Nova ceased moving and died on November 25 during an emergency caesarean section.The Edgbaston hospital has expressed condolences and is conducting a thorough investigation.

Melissa told BirminghamLive: "I'm not going to let this drop. I'm going to do anything I can, I can't let it go because I'm the one having to look at my baby in a morgue and it's awful." She added, "She's cold and she should be warm, with me, with her family.

I want justice for Nova, I want justice for my little girl, my beautiful baby." Despite Nova being small, which was common for Melissa's children, she said that there had been no complications during the pregnancy. "She was just small," Melissa explained. "I had extra scans every week.
