NHS cleaners and porters were 'coronavirus super-spreaders' in hospitals, according to a study. The study by Sir John Bell, who oversees the government's antibody testing programme, found these type of workers had 'sky high' level of antibodies compared to NHS nurses and doctors who work on the frontline.
Sir John explained it is likely they could spread the disease more as they move around hospitals more than intensive care workers.
Questions have now been raised on how cleaners and porters can be better protected in the event of a second coronavirus wave.
There were concerns that there was a large number of positive Covid-19 tests were spread among medical workers rather than the community.
