Nine residents with Covid-19 die at Cork community hospital

Nine residents at Clonakilty Community Hospital in west Cork have died from the Covid-19 virus since 1 April. The HSE's Cork Kerry Community Healthcare confirmed the number of deaths this afternoon.

In a statement, the HSE expressed its sympathy to the families and friends of the residents who have passed away. The community hospital has 122 beds and the current occupancy is understood to be 86.

All residents and staff have been tested for the virus. While the results remain private and confidential, the HSE confirms that there remains a level of infection at the hospital.

In a statement, Cork Kerry Community Healthcare said it wished to reassure the community that every possible precaution is being taken to keep residents and staff safe. "
