MENDOCINO, Calif. - Each week, the price of gas across the country – but especially in California – gets impossibly higher.Just before Memorial Day, the Chevron on Alameda de las Pulgas in Menlo Park hit $7.25 a gallon.Then, this week, one Chevron in Los Angeles was selling gas for more than $8 a gallon.

And now, we've spotted gasoline costing $9.50 a gallon at a gas station in Mendocino. These prices are well over the average price of gas in the Golden State, which last weekend surpassed $6 a gallon for the first time ever, according to the AAA.

This is an all-time high for the state.Breaking it down by cities, on Friday, the average price in Oakland is $6.37 a gallon, San Jose is $6.38 a gallon and San Francisco is $6.50 a gallon.

The prices are curbing drivers' plans. Laura Dena and her sons would have typically go to Southern California around Memorial Day weekend to escape Arizona’s scorching heat.

Junkyard fire in Bucks County PHILADELPHIA - A huge fire burning at a junkyard in Bucks County has prompted a response from emergency crews Thursday afternoon.The fire reportedly erupted at Mazza Iron & Steel on Middle and Solar Drive. Several crews are on scene attempting to get the fire under control.SkyFOX was live at the scene as heavy smoke and flames filled the sky.This is a developing story.

COVID-19 vaccines is raising concerns about academic freedom in the province.Patrick Provost, a professor in the university’s department of microbiology and immunology, says he was suspended for eight weeks without pay earlier this month for comments he made last December.Provost says he thinks the risks of COVID-19 vaccination for children outweigh the benefits.The Université Laval faculty union says it has filed a grievance over the suspension, adding that it worries the university’s actions could have a chilling effect on other professors who share controversial views.David Robinson, the executive director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers, says professors should be disciplined only for comments that amount to incompetence or that violate legal limits to speech, such as libel laws.Quebec Higher Education Minister Danielle McCann says Provost’s suspension is an example that justifies the government’s decision to adopt a bill earlier this month protecting academic freedom.

New Jersey man indicted in shooting death of girl, 9, killed while playing outside

Isiah Roberts MERCER COUNTY, N.J. - A New Jersey man will face several charges after a nine-year-old girl was killed while playing outside with her brother in Trenton.Sequoya Bacon-Jones, 9, was playing with her brother and other friends outside when she was struck by gunfire in the Kingsbury Square courtyard on March 25. Uvalde mother says police are harassing her after she saved kids from shooting

Uvalde, Texas’ Robb Elementary School to save her children says she is now being harassed by local police officers.Angeli Rose Gomez told San Antonio News 4 that she took matters into her own hands during last month’s school shooting massacre that left 19 children and two adults dead.Gomez said she rushed to the school when she heard an active shooter was on the property. She could hear gunshots and children screaming as she came face-to-face with officers standing outside the school doors.
