The Covid-19 test centre at Páirc Uí Chaomh is likely to re-open later today once an assessment is carried out on the latest referrals from GPs in the Cork and Kerry region.

A Health Service Executive spokesperson said that while there is a problem nationally with testing kits, PUC was not expected to be open yesterday as it was up-to-date with referrals as of Saturday night.

The facility, which opened last week, is currently the biggest in the country - capable of handling 1,000 tests per day for people referred by their GP.

The latest referrals on the HSE system for Cork and Kerry will be assessed this morning, and if there is a geographical bias a decision will then be made on where to send people.
