( NIAID-RML ) PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania's confirmed cases of the coronavirus reached 52,915 confirmed cases, with 3,416 confirmed deaths as of Thursday afternoon.

The rise in cases is attributed to 1,070 additional positive cases of COVID-19 and 310 new deaths in the state. The sharp increase in fatalities is due to previously unreported deaths over the last several days, health officials say.
