Police say people are risking their lives by exercising along the East Lancashire Railway line during the coronavirus lockdown.

The tourist attraction is closed due to the coronavirus crisis. But some trains are still running along the line, which runs from Heywood, via Bury to Rawtenstall in Lancs, for maintenance purposes.

And police have warned anyone using the tracks for their hour's daily exercise is putting themselves in 'serious danger' and risks prosecution.

In a statement on Facebook Rossendale Police said: "Please can we ask people to stay off the East Lancashire Railway lines when out exercising. "The entire line is still in use to keep it maintained and people trespassing on the line could find themselves in serious danger as
