People could be offered shopping vouchers for "local businesses" if they get a coronavirus test under new plans for hotspots across the country.
Councils have been told they will be paid £14 for every coronavirus test under new plans unveiled as apart of the government's mass testing scheme.
This £14 could be used as shopping vouchers for those getting tests the plans suggest, as an effort to incentivise people to get tests to increase take up.
This could mean people in Tier 3 hotspots are offered shopping vouchers in exchange for tests. This is part of the same mass-testing scheme which was deployed in Liverpool and helped to knock down coronavirus rates by around two-thirds and the city moving to Tier 2.
