A pimp who had unprotected sex with numerous women despite knowing he had HIV has been jailed for twelve-and-a-half years. Vile John Rodney, 61, previously admitted three counts of grievous bodily harm by infecting three women with the virus.

Sending him to prison today, a judge described Rodney's grim actions as "unforgivable". One of Rodney's victims told of the devastating impact her positive diagnosis had on her life - leading her to try to commit suicide multiple times.

His sentence will be served concurrently to the five-year jail he is currently serving for breaching a sexual risk order. Detectives launched an investigation in 2017 after a complaint from a woman who tested positive for HIV two years earlier following sex with Rodney.
