The Premier League has confirmed the appointment of Gary Hoffman as new chairman following a unanimous vote on Friday. Hoffman, currently chairman of Monzo Bank, will take up his new position on June 1 and the announcement comes during an incredibly testing period for England’s top-flight.
Football in the Premier League is currently suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus crisis, although the intention is for the 2019/20 campaign to be completed during the summer months.
However, this will lead to unprecedented changes to the sporting calendar, affecting the current season and the 2020/21 campaign, with new legislation also needing to be agreed for a number of aspects.
