NEW DELHI : The Union cabinet Monday decided to suspend the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund for two years and channelize the earmarked grant worth ₹7900 crore to the consolidated fund of India, stepping up the financial aid to fight coronavirus pandemic.
Further, the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to bring in an ordinance to implement a 30 % pay cut of all parliamentarians including the PM and Union ministers for one year.
Briefing media after the meeting, Union minister Parakash Javadekar said that President of India, Vice President and governors of state have also decided to take a 30% pay cut.
