Raise benefits for those not yet on Universal Credit, MPs demand

Welfare payments should rise for claimants yet to switch to Universal Credit, a report says today. While rates of standard Universal Credit – the Government's flagship benefit overhaul – and basic working tax credits have been hiked by £20 a week for 12 months, those yet to move to the new system have not received an uplift.

Ministers should raise rates for “legacy benefits”, according to the Work and Pensions Committee.
