A mum says she has never been so terrified as when her baby contracted a rare disease now linked to Covid-19 infections in children.
Kawasaki disease causes inflammation throughout the body, including the heart, often in response to a viral infection. Its symptoms include a high temperature that lingers for more than five days, with a rash, swollen glands in the neck, dry, cracked lips, red fingers or toes and red eyes.
It usually affects those under five. The condition has been found recently a dozen children intensive care hospitals in the UK.
