Residential care facility testing not completed

The large scale testing of residents and staff in long-term care facilities has not yet been completed. When the testing programme was announced on 17 April, it stated this group of people would be prioritised for testing "over the course of the next 7 to 10 days".

The HSE says there are 90,000 people "within the entire residential care sector" and that it is "in the process of reviewing the number of outstanding residential care facilities yet to be tested".

When the review is finished, the HSE says that a "timeframe for completion of testing will be calculated". It says that between 3,000 and 4,000 samples are being taken from residents and staff in these settings each day and the samples are then being tested "primarily in one of our
