SAGE says two-week 'circuit breaker' coronavirus lockdown could 'save 7,000 lives'

SAGE scientists have reportedly calculated that a two-week circuit breaker lockdown could save 7,000 lives. The advisory group outlines how a two-week shutdown starting on October 24 would cut the death toll for the rest of the year from 19,900 to 12,700.

They also say estimated hospital admissions would fall from 132,000 to 66,000. The findings pile more pressure on Boris Johnson to rethink his lockdown strategy.
