Sales of vitamin D supplements up 3000% after Public Health England recommendation

As the coronavirus lockdown continues, increased time spent at home means many of us are not getting the same amount of vitamin D as usual.

This is because we usually get our vitamin D from sunlight. A ten minute walk to the train station or a jaunt around town at lunch usually helps to build up our supplies of this handy vitamin.

Vitamin D is known to help the immune system fight off infections as well as maintain normal bone density. To ensure the UK stays well whilst inside, Public Health England (PHE) issued new guidance in which it encouraged adults and children over the age of one to consider taking vitamin D supplements, recommending at least 10 milligrams a day.
