Another secondary school has told pupils to stay home today following a Covid outbreak among staff. We reported earlier how Fred Longworth High, in Tyldesley, Wigan, had closed to Years 8 and 9 because of staff shortages caused by Covid cases.

Now we're told a second Wigan school - the Hindley campus of Three Towers Alternative Provision Academy or TTAPA - has closed to all secondary pupils today for the same reason.

In a Tweet shared on Sunday evening, the school said: "The secondary provision will be closed to all learners on Monday 21st March due to a covid outbreak amongst staff.

Learners who attend Alternative Provision on Mondays and Primary children should attend as normal. Further updates will be posted via text, Twitter and the website."
