Scots carers will now be given ‘full and proper’ personal protective equipment after union bosses held discussions with Scottish Government ministers.
GMB Scotland confirmed that all carers will be given the PPE, which include masks, ‘as soon as possible’ for each time they visit a care home.
Officials at the union slammed the Scottish Government for failing to take swift action on providing the equipment amid the coronavirus crisis.
It is thought that at least 50 people have died at Covid-19 hit care homes across Scotland since the outbreak.
