Scots NHS staff have given a great-grandad a guard of honour for beating coronavirus at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Roger Street had to be taken to the hospital in the capital after he had taken unwell at his home in Dalkeith on Thursday, March 26.
Staff tested the 77-year-old for the potentially deadly Covid-19 on admission to hospital before being diagnosed with the bug a day later.
Roger’s family feared the worst as he already lives with diabetes, which makes him a high risk from the virus. But after 15 days of round-the-clock care from health workers at the hospital, Roger was eventually discharged after making a miraculous recovery.
